7,160. My Cars. '03 M-Sport 540iA. I had the heated seats in my '89 750iL and even on the highest setting, never felt like it was gonna burn me. Somethng else is going on cause it only makes sense that the heating elements are limited as to how hot they can get.
There are a few variants of the E90 fuse box (having wired my heated seats last week I know all about it!) but in general when you look in at the fuse box, the relays concerned are on the left hand side. The one thing I can't find any information on is the wiring for the E46 seats. They all use this big "community" connector. I'll only be using 4 or 5 wires off of it for the retro fit. Power, Ground, Seat Belt Switch Wire #1 and Seat Belt Switch Wire #2, possibly a 2nd ground for the seat belt switch but probably not.

More than likely your coils are due. This could also be a result of bmw's battery management system. If the voltage is too low or if the car believes your battery is too old, it will start to shut down power draws based on "crucialness", heated seats being one of the first.
